LIQUITOL® SU 45

Permanently elastic, vibration damping embedding compound for rail and similar areas. Can be applied by machine or manually.

Description

LIQUITOL® SU 45 is a two-component, polyurethane-based system, pourable and hardening to an elastic state.  LIQUITOL® SU 45 has temporary resistance to diesel and is frost and de-icing salt resistant. Tested in accordance with the data sheet Merkblatt VDV Mitteilungen 6201 "Untergiessen von Schienen" (VDV data sheet 6201 "Rail embedding"). The VDV 6201 data sheets have been drawn up with the input of public transport companies (VDV= Verband Deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen, German Association of Transportation Companies) and can be considered as the collected record of many years of experience.

Uses

LIQUITOL® SU 45 is used for the elastic, vibration-reducing embedding of grooved and filled section rails. The material can be applied manually or by machine; the latter is an advantage especially for larger projects.

Delivery and packaging

LIQUITOL® SU 45 is supplied in container sizes of 10.2 l and in 200 l barrels. The color is gray-black. The delivery unit for LIQUITOL PRIMER E  is 1 liter; delivery in large containers on request.

Storage

Store in dry conditions in closed containers at room temperature. Under such conditions the material will store for at least 12 months.

Material qualities

The material has the following distinguishing qualities:
• Vibration reducing
• Chemically and mechanically resilient
• Permanently elastic: in a vibration test, no deterioration could be detected after 5 million load cycles
• Long-term stability at temperatures of -20°C to +70°C
• Resistant to water, saline solution (10 %), caustic soda solution (5 %) and engine oil (SAE 10 W 40).

Application guidelines

1. Preparation of the underlying surface
The underlying surface may be slightly damp; any film of oil or grease present must be removed. Dust and other contamination must be removed, as must water, ice or snow. Using LIQUITOL Primer E  can improve the tensile bond strength on various different underlying surfaces.
2. Processing and applying the material
Mixing ratio A : B = 100 : 16 (weight), A : B = 100 : 8.8 (volume). Component A must be well stirred before mixing. Component B is then added. The components must be carefully mixed for approx. 70 seconds with a slow revolving agitator (max. 500 revolutions per minute). Any material adhering to the sides of the mixing container must be loosened and also mixed in. The best processing and application is carried out using a 2-component dosing device. Air and surface temperature must be at least above ± 0°C; temperature of the materials must be at least +15°C. At room temperature, the can time is about 4 - 6 minutes: after 2 hours, the material is no longer adhesive and after 24 hours it is load-bearing.
